Dreams Do Come True

This week's release is a short story by E.A. West. This is E.A.'s first White Rose release.

Aspiring author Cassie Teague has been rejected…again. As she considers giving up her dream of getting published, a handsome editor walks into her life and makes her wonder if God has more in store for her than just writing.

Acquisitions editor David Jameson wants more than just Cassie’s book. But will office politics destroy his hope for the future?

Free Reads!

Working for a company that cares about its authors is a really great thing. When our owners, Rhonda and RJ, opened our sister company, The Wild Rose Press, in 2006, they wanted to be a "Kinder, gentler publisher." As publishers with limited release slots, we have to reject a lot of manuscripts. Anyone who's been rejected for any reason knows how difficult it is to be on the receiving end of that. So, Rhonda & RJ, wanted to make sure to keep the bite out of the sting as much as possible. That philosophy of being a kinder, gentler publisher carries over to White Rose Publishing, and it's one of the reasons I enjoy my job...I know, about now, you're asking, "What's this got to do with free reads?" I just thought that title would catch your attention. (Just kidding! Keep reading. :) )

As much as we try to take care of our authors and potential authors here at White Rose Publishing, we also want to take care of our loyal readers. There are a lot of publishers out there producing some really great books. We recognize that we are privileged when you choose to purchase one of our titles. Because of that, and as a huge "Thank you" to our loyal readers, we are going to do something special just for you. Sometime in late summer/early fall, White Rose Publishing is going to serialize an entire novella to the readers loop--exclusively. This book will not be released via regular channels at all. It is solely for the readers who support WRP by being members of our readers' loop. Once the entire book has been released (in weekly installments), it will no longer be available.

In the meantime, before the special novella is released, members of the loop will receive special free-reads in the form of short stories. (You've seen the free reads we offer on our catalogue. The free stories distributed to the readers' loop will be similar, but you won't be able to get them anywhere else.) So...if you or any of your friends are eager for free reads (and who isn´t, right?) Click here to join our readers' group.

It's free to join, and you'll receive free short stories and a free novella in addition to the latest scoop on what's going on at White Rose Publishing.

Inspirational Assumptions

Isn't it interesting to talk with people and ask them what they think inspirational fiction entails (I am talking about the people who don't read it normally). I had a great conversation this week. I was talking with a friend about a new White Rose manuscript coming out and how excited I was about it. I got the rolling of the eye routine which immediately let me know I had some convincing to do. I asked why she didn't like inspirational and the answer was that she doesn't like being preached to. After all she gets that on Sunday morning when she is sitting in the pew. I was quiet for a moment as I thought of how to answer. I finally asked a very simple question. Are you a Christian; do you see me as one? She got a rather indignant look on her face and answered of course. Hummmmm, is that all we do? We just run around preaching. Nothing else ever happens in our life? (I now had her attention so I continued.) Did you date your husband before you got married? Did your heart ever race when he held your hand? Was your wedding day an incredible climax? It was now her turn to be silent and then finally to admit her heart still raced.

My point - isn't it wonderful that we have a God who lets us experience 'real' life. As Christians, we get to experience it all. There is the history from whence we came, there is sometimes a mystery we need to solve, and there is every day living. Then along with the 'real' life we also get to experience a relationship with Christ and entwine that with all of these experiences. How wonderfully cool is that?

So, the ending of the story is that my friend took home every Reveille and Taps (Kim Mendoza's stories) because with a military background, I thought she could relate them first. She finished one the first night home and I have already promised the rest I have on my shelf and emailed her our website.

Yep, God is good!

Blessings and happy writing - from one happy editor!

Teacher's Plans, A contemporary Christian Romance

This week's release is a full-length novel by JoAnn Carter. JoAnn has another upcoming title, so if you enjoy Teacher's Plans, be sure to tune in for some other great Christian Romance from this talented author.

When Amanda Manning, an exhausted, short-handed special education teacher, is given an assistant, things don't turn out as she planned. Her new assistant is anything but what Amanda expected—most strikingly, a male.

Tracy Atkins secured a job as a teacher's assistant, but will he be able to secure the hand of the woman he is falling in love with? Especially when she finds out about the secret he is hiding?

Come join their adventure as both Amanda and Tracy learn that God's plans are far better than their own. (Jeremiah 29:11)
